My TUNE Doesn’t Connect to the iPad
Jun 20, 2025
If your TUNE isn’t connecting to your iPad, don’t worry—we’re here to help you get back on track. This is a simple issue that can often be resolved with a few simple steps. Below, we’ll walk you through the most likely solutions to restore the connection.
1. Check the Power Strip Toggle
First, let’s ensure your TUNE system is powered on. Locate the power strip connected to your TUNE setup and check the white toggle switch.
What to do: Confirm the white toggle is in the “on” position. If it’s already on but the connection issue persists, try flipping it off, waiting 10 seconds, and then flipping it back on to reset the power flow.
Why this matters: The power strip supplies electricity to the entire TUNE system, and an unpowered system can’t connect to your iPad.
If the toggle is on and the system still isn’t connecting, move to the next step.
2. Verify the computer inside the TUNE is Powered On
The computer inside of your TUNE is a type of computer called a Raspberry Pi, and this is the heart of your TUNE system. It needs to be running for the iPad to connect. You can check its status by looking for a red light on the Pi itself.
What to look for: A steady red light on the Raspberry Pi indicates it’s powered on. If you don’t see the red light, the Pi may be off or not functioning properly.
What to do:
Locate the black toggle switch connected to the Raspberry Pi’s power supply.
Ensure the toggle is in the “on” position.
If the red light is still off, try flipping the black toggle off, waiting 10 seconds, and then flipping it back on.
If the issue persists, consider rebooting the Pi:
Turn off the black toggle.
Unplug the Pi’s power cable from the power strip.
Wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in and flip the toggle on.
Why this matters: The Raspberry Pi manages the communication between your TUNE and iPad. If it’s off, the connection will fail.
If the Pi is powered on (red light visible) but the iPad still won’t connect, let’s check the iPad’s settings.
3. Ensure Bluetooth is Enabled on the iPad
Your TUNE connects to the iPad via Bluetooth, so the iPad’s Bluetooth must be turned on and ready to pair.
What to do:
On your iPad, go to Settings > Bluetooth.
Make sure the Bluetooth toggle is switched to the “on” position (it should be green).
If Bluetooth is on, look for your TUNE device in the list of available devices. It may appear as “TUNE” or a similar name.
If you see the TUNE device, tap it to connect. If it’s listed as “Not Connected,” tap it to reconnect.
If the TUNE device doesn’t appear:
Turn Bluetooth off, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on.
Ensure the TUNE system is powered on (white toggle on, red light on the Pi).
Try rebooting the iPad: hold the power button, slide to power off, then turn it back on.
Why this matters: Without Bluetooth enabled, your iPad can’t detect or communicate with the TUNE system.
